The Starting Grant 241184-PHerc aims at providing an innovative critical edition and the first comprehensive interpretation of some philosophical and rhetorical works by thinkers like Epicurus, Chrysippus and Philodemus lost in the medieval tradition and preserved only in the carbonised papyrus-scrolls of Herculaneum. The project has a duration of five years and a research team composed by four collaborators. It has been endowed by the European Commission with a financial contribution of 900,000 Euro.

30 June-4 July 2014 Dr. Vassallo participated in the 4th biennial Conference of the International Association for Presocratic Studies with the paper On the Orphic Tradition in the Herculaneum Papyri: Testimonia to Orpheus in Philodemus' On Piety and On Music (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
